Galaxies are complex systems that result from cosmological gas collapse, star formation, and energetic feedback processes. Despite remarkable success in reproducing bulk properties of galaxies, our understanding of the interplay between the multi-scale processes is still limited, and it is also not yet clear how galaxies have evolved over the last 138 billion years in detail. In this talk, I will introduce our recent efforts to better understand supernova and radiation feedback from massive stars based on radiation-hydrodynamic simulations and discuss how several outstanding questions in galaxy formation theory, such as the presence of extended neutral and possibly porous circum-galactic medium, may be solved within a coherent picture.
