‧강의 초록

The discovery of graphene has sparked significant interest in researching two-dimensional materials, owing to their intriguing physical properties that include magnetism, superconductivity, charge density waves, and topological characteristics. These features are evident in a range of materials such as hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN), black phosphorus, and transition metal dichalcogenide compounds, which can be fabricated into thin films with varying thicknesses and heterostructures due to their distinct van der Waals interlayer bonding. As a result, researchers are actively exploring their potential for use in devices, and efforts are underway to identify the fundamental causes of their properties and to identify materials with the desired characteristics. This necessitates a deep understanding of the electronic structure of two-dimensional materials and establishing links with their properties. This lecture aims to examine the unique and diverse properties of two-dimensional materials, with a particular emphasis on magnetism, and their associated electronic structures.
